Taxpayers who receive distributions from certain retirement accounts will receive Form 1099-R.
Enter Form 1099-R
- In the Federal Section, select Income
- Select 1099-R, RRB-1099, RRB-1099-R, SSA-1099
- Select 1099-R
- Complete the Payer Information
- Complete the Recipient Information
- Enter the applicable amounts
- Enter the Distribution Code
- Enter any state or local tax withholdings and Continue
Disability Pensions: Certain taxpayers receiving disability pension may need to report their RRB-1099-R benefits on Form 1040, line 1. Check the box for "Check here to report on Form 1040, Line 1" if this applies to the taxpayer. See IRS Publication 575, Pension and Annuity Income for more information.
