Customer Portal enables preparers and taxpayers to securely share documents, including signature documents. Before the preparer and taxpayer can begin sharing documents through Customer Portal, the Customer Portal registration link for the return must be created, and the taxpayer must use the link to complete registration for their Customer Portal.

How Does the Taxpayer Receive the Link?
Once the preparer has sent the Customer Portal registration link to the taxpayer, the taxpayer will receive the link via e-mail or text message, depending on which method the preparer used to send the link.
By Email: The taxpayer will receive an email from TaxStatusNow.com with the subject line Your
Secure Portal Has Been Created. The email will contain a link to access their portal.
By Text Message: The taxpayer will receive a text message from our automated system with a
link to access their portal account.
How Does the Taxpayer Use the Link to Register for Customer Portal?
The taxpayer will need to click on the link they received by email or text. The link will redirect the taxpayer to a registration webpage. The taxpayer will need to create a username and password.
Important- The taxpayer must enter the same last four SSN and phone number or email address that the preparer entered into the tax return in order to successfully register their account!
Once the taxpayer submits their registration, they will be prompted to verify the account using an MFA code, which they can receive via email or text message.
